TRAVERTINE

Travertine – lime tuff (the name derives from the Italian word Travertino; latin name: Lapis Tiburtinus) is a light porous rock formed as a result of deposition of calcium carbonate from carbonaceous springs. It is widely used as a construction, decoration and finishing material. A distinctive feature of travertine is its porous/cellular structure with a great amount of cavities. Numerous sorts of processed travertine have not only various colors and shades (beige, brown, yellowish), but also large patterns, which adds to its attractiveness for designers. Travertine is easily processed, and due to the low density of the stone, travertine structures have relatively little weight. It enables us to use it both for external finishing of buildings and for interiors. In addition to facing slabs and tiles, travertine countertops, window-sills, bar counters and stairs also look really marvelous. Thanks to high heat conduction, travertine is heavily used in designing fireplaces.

Application: exterior and interior finishing, artistic goods.
